About Heber Springs Fire Department:
Heber Springs Fire Department proudly protects 10000 people living in an
area of 20 square miles. We operate out of 3 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public
department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status.
The HSFD is a municipality based department manned by a full time chief supervising an all volunteer roster. We protect
a city with a population of near 6000. Our area also extends to the surrounnding rural departments' coverage. Our role is
unique as we must protect both a small city with a water supply and an rural area with little or no water supply. We are a
certified fire department with the state and train within our department as well as utilize the Ark. Fire Academy for our
training. Our area is retirement and recreational based with a large US Army Corp of Engineers Lake named Greers Ferry Lake.
This lake borders our city and requires special fire fighting techniques for boats and marinas as well as water rescue and
recovery which is handled by the Cleburne County Search and Rescue Team. Assistance is provided to the CCSRT when required.
EMS service is provided by a private ambulance service based in the city. Incident reporting is reported to the state on a
monthly time schedule via computer based system.
